Sunny Deol has never been more restrained and that restraint is enormously powerful. He plays Arjun with a quiet dignity that is completely different from his thunderous action star persona. His silence in the courtroom during the most difficult moments of the trial is more impactful than any dialogue could be. This is Sunny Deol proving that his late-career resurgence has genuine depth behind it.
Akshaye Khanna is as the critics have unanimously noted extraordinary. There is a scene in the second half between his character and Dia Mirza’s Avantika that multiple reviewers have described as the single best scene in the film. Khanna can communicate more with one part of his face than most actors can manage with their entire bodies. His temperature-altering presence makes every scene he is in electric.
